It was my first experience to Republic Polytechnic today for the first day of their open house which was for secondary students who were interested in finding out about what Republic Poly could offer them. The main reason of going there was for the 3XE (Explore, Experience, Excel), an event which was organized as a cyber gaming competition by Gaming.RP and Rapture Gaming. (read more…)
The turnout at the event was surprisingly quite large and wasn’t what I really expected. There was an area where you could try out one of Asiasoft’s newer games, Audition. It somehow reminds me of Dance Dance Revolution which was popular a few years back in arcades. There was the competition area, the stage area where there were 10 computers for the live matches and commentary by members from Gaming.RP. There were about five Xbox 360 consoles for anyone to try the games, but I did not get to try it as there were no available Xbox for me to try!
I was approached by Mr. Albert Chong, a product executive from Asiasoft to try out Audition at one of their computers which was open to public. He patiently taught me how the game was supposed to be played, but I found that it was a little too fast for me! Yes, I’ve got a little slow reaction! I still enjoyed it and would download the game and play if I had the chance to!
There was also a talk which was given by Mr. Jason Chuang about the history of gaming and how gaming is relevant to working life. It was a very informative session and I got to know many things which I never knew!

Next was the most interesting part for me! I played Counter-Strike at one of the areas where there were laptops for anyone to play. I had quite a lot of fun shooting Wei Meng and also being on the same team as Sarahz from Republic Poly who was seated next to me.
So, if you are interested in trying Audition, shooting some enemies in Counter-Strike, playing the latest Xbox 360 and watching some of the live DotA matches, then Republic Poly should be the place you should come down to over the next 3 days!
