This Saturday and Sunday’s (7 and 8 April respectively) Intel Gaming Cup open category tournament has been postponed. The competition was originally slated to be held on the 7th and 8th of April and the 14th and 15th of April 2007. Instead, all matches will be played on the 14th and 15th of April instead.
According to the E-Sports Championship website, the cancellation was due to a “server migration”. When asked for clarification, Rapture Gaming Event Executive Andy Tan said that the event was cancelled because people couldn’t register when the server was down for a period.
When asked about whether the competition will still consist of 128 teams, Mr Tan said that the total number of slots open to the public are “still to be confirmed”, and that the IGC Grand Finals will not be affected. This means that 8 teams will still be seeded from the Open Category into the Grand Finals.
