SINGAPORE – Infocomm Asia Holding Games kicked off the Granado Espada Open Beta at Zouk with a Saturday launch party, the biggest for an online game in South East Asia with over 3000 participants in attendence.
Granado Espada is a massive multiplayer online role-playing game developed by IMC Games and published by HanbitSoft. Players get to fight monsters, complete quests, make new friends and more in a mystical fantasy world. The game’s art direction is heavily influenced by the 17th to 18th century European Baroque style.
Participants of the party were treated to a feast of all senses. Zouk was decorated with hanging vines and sculptures of game monsters to recreate the feel of the game. Also on the party floor were cosplayers and models dressed up as various characters from the game.
The main stage featured performances from various local groups. Swordplay group PHEMAS displayed the art of medieval European sword fighting and the Tanjong Katong Secondary School Military Band played popular tunes and music from the Granado Espado soundtrack.
The finals of the 2 on 2 Regional Arena Tournament also took place. The best players from Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam competed against each other for attractive prizes. Malaysian team YakiMy2 emerged as the overall champions, each team member taking home a full computer system.
Mr Hakkyu Kim, CEO of IMC Games and creater of Granado Espada, mingled with gamers at the party and autographed limited-edition box sets of Granado Espada for the first 200 buyers. These limited-edition sets come with special items that cannot be obtained elsewhere. Only 9,999 copies are available worldwide.
At the pre-party press conference, Mr Roland Ong (CEO of IAH Games), Mr Alex Kim (CEO of HanbitSoft Inc) and Mr Hakkyu expressed their elation on the launch of the Open Beta, and hoped that players across Asia will enjoy it to the fullest.
