SINGAPORE – Registration for the World Cyber Games 2007 Singapore National Finals Open Category has opened, signaling the countdown to the open of Singapore’s biggest e-sports event this year.
Over 300 gamers will converge on Suntec Convention Hall 602 on 2 and 3 August to participate in tournaments for over 10 games. While the prize money is attractive, what most participants are gunning for is Singapore’s highest e-sports accolade – a WCG gold medal.
The gold medalists from Age of Empires III, Dead or Alive 4, DotA Allstars, FIFA 2007 and Warcraft III will also get to represent Singapore in the WCG Asian Championships, held on 4 and 5 August 2007. 11 other countries, including Australia, Korea and Malaysia will be taking part in the Asian Championships.
Perhaps the biggest honour would go to the Command & Conquer 3, Counter-Strike 1.6, Dead or Alive 4, Gears of War and Project Gotham Racing 3 players and teams. They will be flown to Seattle, USA, with accommodation fully paid, to represent Singapore on the global stage at the WCG Grand Finals.
For those who have missed out on the various WCG seeding tournaments held earlier in the year, do no fret. The WCG Singapore National Finals Open Category is still open for registration – and so is your chance for glory.
