Taiwanese team XGamers-EsM picked up Singapore Warcraft III Orc specialist Abuse on Tuesday as part of their efforts to bolster their lineup ahead upcoming international leagues.
Although Abuse finished top 8 in the 2007 Games Xtreme League Season 01, his recruitment by XG-EsM still came as a surprise to members of the Singapore Warcraft III community.
“Abuse hasn’t been playing much Warcraft III recently,” said RageFaction Assistant Manager Abdul “girlyluck” Hakim. “However, I think he caught the eye of several EsM members when he defeated HRU 2-1 in round 16 of the GXL Finals.”
Local player “Oxygen” was surprised as well, and believed that Abuse’s recruitment by XG-EsM would be beneficial for him: “He will get to play more leagues and improve himself further.”
XG-EsM’s team leader stated that Abuse has “potential” and would be a “really good” addition to their Warcraft III lineup as good Orc players are vital to the clan war tournament format.
“Night Elves and Undeads are the attackers in a team, while Orcs are the defenders,” explained XG-EsM team leader “Retty”. “NEs and UDs try to get as many points as they can while they can choose their best maps. Orcs try to defend that point advantage to ensure a team’s win.”
Retty also revealed that Abuse will see action in the upcoming Warcraft International League: “I’ll put Abuse in the lineup to show that our decision is not a wrong one.”
Efforts to contact Abuse for comment were unsuccessful at press time.
