Chicago Chimera defeated Carolina Core in the inaugural Championship Gaming Series World Final to claim championship and some US$500,000 (S$726,000) in prize money for the team franchise.
With the memory of Carolina’s one point 22-21 defeat by Chicago at the CGS Region 1 Finals still fresh, no doubt Carolina was out for Chicago’s blood in the CGS World Final.
It was not to be however, as Chicago showed Carolina who’s boss. Outclassing Carolina for a second time, this time by a huge spread of 27-15, Chicago dominated Carolina in almost all game titles.
Chicago took Project Gotham Racing 8-1, FIFA 2-1, Dead or Alive Female’s 5-1 and DoA Male 5-1, only going down to Carolina in Counter-Strike: Source 7-11.
Chicago’s Jeremy "Black Mamba" Florence was named World Final Most Valuable Player as well.
