TGX09 game show to open in July

Gamers can look forward to new game and hardware releases, esports tournaments and a cosplay show this July at the Games XPO 2009.

The exhibition, to be held 3 to 5 July at the Suntec Convention Centre, would have 80 companies featuring games and hardware for the console, PC, online, mobile and arcade platforms, according to Mr Steven Tan, Senior Manager from co-organizers Conference & Exhibition Management Services (CEMS).

TGX09 will feature three zones — the Experience Zone, where the public will be able to try out consoles, games and hardware; the Activity Zone, featuring competitions and a cosplay show; and the Buying Zone, where gamers will be able to buy what they have seen.

Mr Herman Ng, Managing Director of co-organizer Rapture Gaming, also promised a “high-key regional competition” at TGX09, adding that it “may or may not” be part of this year’s World Cyber Games.

What is confirmed are cometitions for Street Fighter IV and Tekken 6, organized by TKA Amusement, the operator of the Virtualand chain of arcades.

2009 will be an exciting year for gamers in Singapore, with two major gaming conventions taking place; TGX09 will go head-to-head with the Games Convention Asia 2009, taking place a month later in September.
