TKA Virtualand has announced Street Fighter IV and Tekken 6 tournaments slated to be held at The Games Xpo ’09 in July, with qualifiers for the SF4 tournament to commence in June.
The finals of the SF4 tournament will be held on 4 June, while the Tekken 6 tournament will be held on 5 June. Both will be held at TGX ’09 at Suntec Convention Hall 404.
Only 16 finalists will be selected to participate in the SF4 tournament at TGX ’09. In order to qualify, players must compete at one of four SF4 qualifiers to be held in June. Details are as follows:
- 6 June – Virtualand Bugis Junction (South)
- 13 June – Virtualand AMK Big Mac Centre (North)
- 20 June – Virtualand Kallang Leisure Park (East)
- 27 June – Virtualand Clementi CityVibe (West)
The top three players of each qualifying tournament will be seeded into the SF4 finals at TGX ’09 as well.
Prizes for both the SF4 and Tekken 6 finals will be S$500 for the top spot, S$300 for the runner-up and S$200 for the third-placed winner.
According to Mr Bernard Ho from TKA Virtualand, top players from Japan and Korea might be taking part in the competitions as well, so this could be a good chance to test your mettle on an international level.
Registration costs S$8 per entry and can be done at Virtualand Bugis Junction on a first-come first-served basis.
Correction: We previously reported that each Street Fighter IV qualifier will have a total of S$1,000 to be given out. Instead, only the finals for the SF4 tournament at TGX ’09 will have the prize money distributed. We apologize for the inaccuracy.
