Painkiller: Resurrection released on PC

Painkiller: Resurrection has been sneakily released on Steam by publisher JoWood. Previously, Resurrection was slated for a 3 November release on Steam.

In Resurrection, the player assumes the role of CIA asssassin Wild Bill Sherman, who finds himself in purgatory after accidentally detonating a bus full of school children. Hell has no problems claiming his soul but Heaven has other plans for him. Sherman is offered the chance to make amends by taking out Hell’s scum. He starts off with the iconic Painkiller as he goes about doing the work of the Lord. As the player progresses through the game, the storyline will be unravelled through cut-scenes and items.

Compared to today’s games the visuals might look dated as the game will be run using the 2004 Painkiller engine. However, there will be added graphical features like motion blur and dynamic lightning to spruce things up.

Thankfully, the emphasis of Resurrection is not on the graphics but on hardcore first-person shooting. There will be masses of enemies thrown at you, multiplayer deathmatches and a co-op mode for up to four players.
