Singaporean Quake enthusiasts will now be able to enjoy low-latency Quake Live gaming after Starhub introduced Singapore-based servers, the first in Asia outside of Japan.
Besides Singaporeans, the servers might also benefit other gamers in the Southeast Asia and South Asia regions.
The news was announced on Gaming420 by the admin of Starhub’s game servers, “hammifer“.
GameSync understands that it took so long to bring the Quake Live servers to Singapore because it was not easy to establish a connection from Texas, USA to Singapore. This was necessary as the servers have to constantly report back to the central servers at id Software.
Quake Live is essentially a web-browser based version of Quake 3 and is currently in open beta. You can try it here.
