Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was announced by Capcom yesterday. You can view the embedded teaser trailer above.
Here are all the important facts, in condensed form, that have been unveiled so far for this highly anticipated fighting game sequel:
No arcade or PC version
The game is slated for a Spring 2011 release on Xbox 360 and PS3. There are currently no plans for an arcade, PC, or Wii version.
Not using the Super Street Fighter IV engine
Instead of the SFIV engine, MvC3 will use the same engines that power Capcom’s Lost Planet 2 and Resident Evil 5 games.
Over 100 pieces of game music
No more lame “Take You For a Ride” theme, MvsC3 will boast a large and varied soundtrack. Some of the songs are remixes of tracks found in older games.
At least 30 characters in the roster
The roster for MvC3 will be slightly smaller this time (at least 30), compared to Marvel Vs. Capcom 2’s massive 56.
As seen in the teaser trailer, the six revealed characters so far are: Morrigan (from Darkstalkers), Iron Man, Hulk, Wolverine, Ryu, and Chris Redfield (Resident Evil).
The folks at Kotaku, through some amazing silhouette-analyzing skills that I don’t have, have used the official artwork above to try and guess the other characters in the roster.
Chun-Li and Dr. Doom are pretty obvious, but how on Earth did they arrive at Captain America and Frank West (Dead Rising)?
Destructoid also have their own character speculations, which you can view here.
We still don’t know if there will be Disney characters
‘Nuff said.
