If you’ve been feeling a little bit worried about the release of Portal 2’s free DLC pack, which was originally announced way back in April for a “summer release”, here’s a little update from Valve’s Doug Lombardi at this year’s Gamescon 2011: The DLC will be released around mid-September, which is “still technically summer,” he said.
The DLC pack will contain new maps, a new leaderboard system, and new challenges (similar to Portal 1’s original challenge modes). The DLC is absolutely free, and will be released on the PC, 360, and PS3 versions of the game.
Knowing Valve and their penchant for “Valve time” delays, I predict that the DLC will be released at around October-November instead. Still, they’re providing the update for free (for all platforms; including the 360), and I have no complaints about that.
