Guild Wars 2 closed beta to launch in late March

Guild Wars 2, the long awaited followup to the original Guild Wars MMO, will start its closed beta stage in late March. The World vs World component will be available for play during the closed beta.

The closed beta registration for Guild Wars 2 attracted almost one million gamers who couldn’t wait to get their hands on the sequel. The Guild Wars 2 website went down during peak periods in the registration period, which at one point saw almost 4,000 people sign-ups per minute.

Personally I am pretty excited for Guild Wars 2, which will not feature any sort of subscription fee just like its predecessor. That is something I very much prefer, as it drastically reduces the need to play as much as you can in order to get most out of your available game time, unlike other traditional MMOs like World of Warcraft.
