The first thing that strikes you as you walking into Suntec Convention Hall 404, the venue of this year’s Games Convention Asia, is that the place is small. Really small. But don’t let that deceive you. Instead of an endless parade of casual games as in previous years, this year’s GCA has plenty of core games on display.
Recently released FIFA 10, Need For Speed: Shift, said to be one of the best NFS games since Underground, and The Beatles: Rock Band are available for you to try out at EA’s booth. You can try out Forza Motorsports 3 at the neighboring Xbox 360 booth as well. And if you like the games, you can buy them right in the hall.
However, the real gems of GCA this year are the early preview and pre-release builds of games that are yet to be released. A special pre-release Xbox 360 build of Borderlands, Gearbox’s upcoming first-person RPG shooter, is being demoed at the IAH Games booth. EA has demos of Dante’s Inferno, Dragon Age: Origins and Saboteur for public play.
If you have been considering whether to buy some of the recently released game titles, or want to be the first to try out unreleased game titles, then this GCA will have something for you. Otherwise, GCA offers precious little else for you. Perhaps the babe booths?
GCA will be at the Suntec Convention Centre Halls 403 and 404 until Sunday. If you have a strong interest in trying out recent game titles or some of the most hyped up upcoming game titles, then go check it out.
