[b]SINGAPORE[/b] – The Compaq-AMD Pro-Gaming League 2007/08 Season was launched just before midnight Friday to great fanfare, with about 300 guests, participants and spectators cheering on.

Mr David Tan, Business Director, Hewlett-Packard Singapore, Personal Systems Group kicked off the season by starting the first match of the season between Team TooTs and BAND OF ARAG. Confetti rained down upon the stage as the game started, ushering in the second edition of the CAPL tournament and the start of the competition.

The CAPL Midnight Madness festivities started earlier in the day at 6.30 pm with free gaming for the public. Selected participants were also treated to drinks, popcorn and a free screening of the movie Shrek the Third.

Team Xtreme ChaotiX (XtC) leader Micheal Phee was at the event to support XtC’s new DotA team. Michael said he enjoyed himself and mentioned that the crowd was fantastic: “The event was very well organized and attracted a huge crowd [of] both spectators and teams.”

Matches for the CAPL 2007/08 Spring Season Open Category are still ongoing at the time of writing. The morning session, consisting of half of the playing field, will end at 8am. The afternoon session will start at 10am and end at 6pm. The finals for both the Open and Elite categories will be held on Sunday.
