2007 GXL Season 2 games, prizes announced

A S$25,875 prize pool has been announced for Season 2 of the 2007 Games Xtreme League, which will feature Counter-Strike 1.6, DotA Allstars, Enemy Territory Quake Wars and Granado Espada as competition games.

The 4 games were chosen after a community poll and confirmed in an [url=http://www.gxleague.com/league/news.asp?id=1457&sec=1&typ=0]announcement[/url] on the GXL website. The lack of transparency in the polling process, particularly the inclusion of ETQW and especially GE despite the lack of votes, had [url=http://www.gamesync.net/2007/10/02/gamers-criticize-2007-gxl-season-2-games-selection]drawn criticism[/url] from some members of the GXL community.

The prize pool is evenly distributed for the team games, with each individual participant in the team receiving S$800 for the 1st prize, S$400 for the 2nd prize, S$200 for the 3rd prize and S$100 for the 4th prize.

Granado Espada receives the lion’s share of the prize pool when counted by individuals, with the champion’s prize being S$1,000, 2nd prize S$500, 3rd prize $250 and 4th prize S$125.

Registration is currently open and will close on 21 October 2007. Although the league is open to gamers from all over the world as part of the league takes place online, the finals is held at a physical, offline location in Singapore.
