MYM overturns KS ban, apologizes

Meet Your Makers has overturned Malaysian team KingSurf’s ban from MYM Prime Defending 9, but did not fully clear them of maphacking in the tournament.

According to the statement on mymym.com, after further evaulation the verdict on KingSurf was changed to “innocent until proven guilty”. However, the statement stops short of a full “not guilty” verdict and leaves open the possibility that KingSurf is still under suspicion of maphacking.

A one-line apology was also issued at the end of the article, saying: “A public apology from the myMYM Prime Defending administration towards KS.”

Many felt however that the gesture was not sincere enough and that the admins involved in the ban, S1rro and Snake, should have come out to personally apologize.

“Their ‘apology’ consisted of 2 apathetic sentences, and the whole
article seemed not to clear up KS but to defend the MYM admins,” wrote
Johanssen “xuscar” Johnson of Denmark in a comment (#41).

Responding to such comments, MYM Chief Technical Officer Markus “Army” Stefanko wrote, “There is no need for any further statements. This message is from the tournament administration so individual messages are not required as the ban was handled by the administration crew and not by individuals.

MYM also acknowledged that serious flaws occured during the decision making process. Among these problems were the involvement of people outside the decision making process, failure to communicate with KingSurf and that the hastiness of the ban.
