Major changes to CAPL in 2008 season

The Compaq AMD Pro-Gaming League will see major revisions to its tournament structure when its third season kicks off at the end of May.

Instead of concurrent Open and Elite Category tournaments running during each quarter, the upcoming season will instead alternate between the two categories.
This means that the upcoming 30 May to 1 June Summer Season will feature only Open Category teams, with the following Autumn season to feature only teams from the Elite Category.

On top of this, the registration free for the Elite Category has been waived and the total prize purse increased, apparently to "attract more professional teams to take part".

While the top three Elite teams will still walk away with S$2,000, S$1,000 and S$500 respectively, teams that place fourth and below will finally get to share in the prize money. The fourth placed team will now receive S$250, while the fifth to eight placed teams will receive S$75 each.

Registration for the upcoming season is available at Rapture Gaming’s E-Sports Championship website, and will close on 23 May 2008. More details about the upcoming CAPL season are available at capl.com.sg.
