Team Singapore has ended her run at the World Cyber Games 2008 Asian Champions, with a final tally of two bronze medals. More details inside.
Virtua Fighter 5
Singapore’s best chance at a gold medal, Wilson "Tetra" Chia, did well in the group stages and quarter-finals, but unfortunately met Japan’s representative Hiromiki "Itazan" Kumada in the semi-finals and was knocked out. By Tetra’s own admission, the Japanese was too strong for any of the other players, so the loss should not be taken to heart. Tetra went on to defeat Hong Kong’s Cheng Kim to take the bronze medal.
Guitar Hero III
No one knew what to expect in Guitar Hero’s first appearance in the World Cyber Games and the Asian Championship, but Herbert Fan did Singapore proud. He managed to defeat Korea in the third/fourth placing match to take home a bronze medal.
FIFA 08
Mohamed "Xtr3me3" Phirkhan, regarded as Singapore’s best medal chance after Tetra, lost to India’s Reuben Ceynac Pereira in the semi-finals. Xtr3me3 went on to face Vietnam’s To "3H|l2vn" Trung Hieu in the third/fourth placing match. Both players were evenly matched but nerves got the Xtr3me3 and lost the match 0-2, 2-4, taking fourth place.
DotA Allstars
Impreza had showed good form in the previous months, doing well in the group stage. However, they still lost to Malaysia’s Kingsurf in the quarter-finals, eliminating them from the tournament.
Need For Speed: ProStreet
Anwar "IZECUBEZ" Fadil was knocked out in the quarter-finals by Philippines’s Isreal C. Magante.
