Two prototype Blade laptops were stolen from Razer’s research and development offices in San Francisco, United States nearly two weeks ago, the gaming peripherals manufacturer revealed last morning.
Razer is working closely with the authorities to recover the laptops, but in the meanwhile the company would like to discourage anyone from buying the Razer Blade prototypes or, you know, claim that they found two shiny black laptops at bar.
According to Kotaku, the only items stolen in the 5 November break-in were the two prototypes, a separate laptop and a digital camera. Nothing else was touched. Adding to the mystery, the thieves had security card access to the building housing Razer’s R&D labs.
Corporate espionage, or just thieves who know exactly what they want? We’ll probably never know, but here’s to hoping that a wild Blade will appear soon.
Here’s the full Facebook post from Razer, apparently signed off by Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan himself:
Dear Razer Community,
Over the weekend of 11/4/11, we had a break-in at one of our Razer offices. Two Razer Blade prototypes were stolen from our Bay area R&D lab.
As you can imagine, the return of these prototype units is very important to the company. We have already reported this to the authorities who are working closely with us on this matter.
We take this act of theft seriously and would like to appeal for its return and discourage anyone from buying the Razer Blade prototypes from the perpetrators, whether online or otherwise, as they are stolen property.
We appreciate any and all information anyone may have on the incident. Please contact us at [email protected] if you have any information.
Thank you for all your support.
