Indie Spotlight: 2Fuse, made in Singapore! (iOS)

2Fuse is a “made in Singapore” action puzzler game released recently for the iPhone and iPad. Developed by Mojo Forest, the same guys who delivered Them! Pidgeons and Clink HD, 2Fuse is an easy to play, but hard to master type of game which focuses on competitiveness. Also, the app is free to download from the iTunes store.

The game is really simple. Match pairs of tiles which are the same colour and of the same number anywhere on the 4-by-4 grid. Matching a pair will increase the number until it becomes a star. Matching two stars will give you different buffs which will help improve your score. Chaining combos help you to increase your high score too.

One of the most impressive things is that the game feels polished with the right elements inside. Touch was really responsive and the grid size was just right for my rather large fingers. I appreciate the music and sound effects, which gave me reminiscences of the time I was playing Peggle with the ascending chimes. Gameplay is really fast paced as you have to really scramble to match tiles. Split seconds decisions have to spot matching pairs and whether to match them now or later to chain combos. From my skill level, each game lasts about one minute, allowing me to start or stop the gaming session anytime.

The more games you play, you will level up and gain points to exchange in game bonuses in the item shop. You can also get these points from the cash shop or level up to gain points to buy items. An essential item to get if you are serious about this game is the Triple score booster, a 99-cents cash only item which will gives you an edge by tripling your score to top the leaderboards. Perhaps the highlight of the game would be the Facebook Integration, where you will face off with your friends for the position of top 10 in the weekly leaderboards to earn medals.
