StarHub will temporarily take its Team Fortress 2 and Counter-Strike 1.6 servers offline on 19 May to make enhancements to its online gaming service, according to an announcement made through StarHub’s Facebook page on Thursday.
This is the first time that StarHub has announced in advance that their popular multiplayer game servers will be taken offline. In previous incidents, the servers were taken offline without prior warning, leaving many gamers left in the dark.
Responding to queries about the planned enhancements, a StarHub spokesperson told NGNT that “it’s a little too early to talk about it right now” and that StarHub plans to provide more details through Facebook and through email shortly after 19 May.
The spokesperson also said that the popular Mumble voice communication server hosted by StarHub will be taken offline as part of the process.
Gamers who wish to be kept updated on the status of the game servers can send an email to [email protected].
