SINGAPORE – The War Front: Turning Point tournament, held Saturday at E2Max Cineleisure and organized by New Era, brought together some sixteen participants to compete for attractive prizes.
The tournament for the real-time strategy game was held in a unique free for all format, with all participants playing at the same time. The last players remaining would proceed to the next round, until only one winner emerged.
The overall champion, Jeremy Lim, a 17 year old junior college student, revealed that this was only his second time playing War Front, his first being at a friend’s place. Despite this, Jeremy did well, scoring more than double the points of the next bext opponent.
Jeremy said of the tournament format, “I feel that it’s quite challenging as all players are playing at the same time. You have to strategize, as if you attack someone’s base, you might be attacked and lose.”
He also said that the game provides as variety of challenges as it requires you to master not only ground troops such as infantry but vehicles like tanks and aircraft.
For his efforts, Jeremy walked away with a hamper of cash, game titles and products worth S$800. The runner-up and second runner-up, Jasper and Donovan, received similar hampers worth S$500 and S$200 respectively.
