X3G secure third placing in CGS China

[b]SINGAPORE[/b] – Counter-Strike: Source team [img]http://www.gamesync.net/img/flags/flag_sg.gif[/img] X3G emerged third in the Championship Gaming Series China Qualifiers last weekend, seeding them into the CGS Combine.

[img]http://www.gamesync.net/img/flags/flag_sg.gif[/img] X3G was knocked down to the lower bracket after losing narrowly to [img]http://www.gamesync.net/img/flags/flag_cn.gif[/img] Red Line 7 to 10. [img]http://www.gamesync.net/img/flags/flag_sg.gif[/img] X3G proceeded to rebound strongly in the lower bracket, defeating [img]http://www.gamesync.net/img/flags/flag_cn.gif[/img] WV.abn, [img]http://www.gamesync.net/img/flags/flag_cn.gif[/img] Project.Gaming and [img]http://www.gamesync.net/img/flags/flag_cn.gif[/img] xGx 10-2, 10-4, 10-4 before being defeated by [img]http://www.gamesync.net/img/flags/flag_cn.gif[/img] United Beijing 6 to 10.

[img]http://www.gamesync.net/img/flags/flag_sg.gif[/img] X3G’s performance was enough to secure their top finishing despite having to play against several strong Chinese teams and with unfamiliar competition format.

The CGS competition format differs greatly from standard CS competition formats. Significant differences include each half having only 9 rounds and start money of $16,000, compared to the typical 15 rounds per half and start money of $800.

[img]http://www.gamesync.net/img/flags/flag_sg.gif[/img] XTC, the other Singapore team who participated in CGS China, was unlucky to meet the eventual champions wNv.gm in the first round of the tournament and were eliminated after losing 10 to 5, a respectable showing against China’s top e-sports team.
