After being drawn together in the group stages, it was a surprise to have both gosubay and girlyluck facing off each other for the second time in the prestigious World Cyber Games 2007 Singapore National Finals. In the earlier Group Stage match, gosubay had taken down girlyluck 2-0 in a double Night Elf mirror match up.

Round 1

The first map was played on Echo Isles. Gosubay decided to spring a surprise by selecting Human, whereas Girlyluck remained with his main race, Night Elf. Gosubay spawned on the left hand side (11 o’clock) whereas girlyluck spawned on the right (1 o’clock).

Gosubay opened up with a typical human build, Archmage and footmen, while girlyluck opted for a tavern build and went with Dark Ranger and archers. Upon the completion of his Archmage’s training, gosubay took no time to head vertically downwards to creep the goldmine and expand.

However, girlyluck sent a wisp on foresight to scout gosubay and detonated upon 2 water elementals. This resulted in gosubay’s militia and footmen having to take damage from the creeps. Girlyluck took this opportunity to come in and started focus firing on the militia and footmen, thus skeletons were resurrected upon each unit that had black arrow casted on them (Dark ranger’s ability).

Shortly, girlyluck’s army escalated in great numbers and gosubay’s expansion was destroyed. Despite trying to carry the game into the latter stage, gosubay’s effort was futile and he called good game close to the 15 minute mark.

Round 2

Second map was on Twisted Meadows, gosubay decided to revert to his main race, Night elf. Both of the players started with the same combination, Demon Hunter and archers.

However there was a variation in the two player’s creeping pattern, gosubay boldly went for a risky creep pattern while girlyluck played the norm. Girlyluck didn’t do anything to stop gosubay in doing so thus resulting in gosubay collecting a invaluable item in a potion of invulnerability and a higher leveled Demon Hunter.

Gosubay made significant use of the early game advantage by constantly pushing girlyluck’s after picking Keeper of the Grove second, picking off units one by one. Once gosubay’s demon hunter hit close to level five, gosubay made a full force push on girlyluck’s base and the latter wasn’t able to withstand the barrage of pressure and called good game.

The series now enters the decisive game where the winner would be crowned 2007 Singapore WCG Champion.

Round 3

Third map was back on Echo isles. Similar to the sophomore game, both players selected Night Elf. Girlyluck spawned on 1 o’clock and gosubay on 11 o’clock. Both players went demon hunter first coupled with several archers and the identical creep patterns.

For mirror match ups on Echo isles, the marketplace located at 12 o’clock is arguably the most important creeping spot; both players hesitated on openly creeping the marketplace as both had archers shadowmelding close to the marketplace to prevent any further movement.

Tier 2 was looming and both players race down to the tavern to grab their respective second heroes. Gosubay picked Naga Sea Witch first followed later by girlyluck and an altercation began, both set of army began aiming at each other’s Naga Sea Witch.

Girlyluck passed the town portal from the Demon Hunter to his Naga Sea Witch that was on the brink of going down to salvage himself. In the meanwhile his army continued attacking Gosubay’s demon hunter that barely escaped with 20 to 30 hit points and the crowd gave a huge applause.

Shortly after retreating girlyluck went to secure the marketplace and collected a greater potion of healing. A battle occurred soon at the marketplace where girlyluck lost his Demon Hunter whom who equipped with greater healing of potion, and gosubay’s Demon Hunter fell too not long after. It was even on population count then with both sets of armies backing off.

After both Demon Hunters revived, the final battle then took place. Girlyluck seemed reckless with his Demon Hunter and it was taken down with good timing by gosubay. All hopes for girlyluck faded then and he was forced to type good game and the crown was heralded by gosubay.
