With KODE5 Southeast Asia commencing tomorrow, GameSync brings you a short feature on where to expect the most heated displays of Counter-Strike 1.6 firepower and game play at the KODE5 Southeast Asia group stages.
Group 1
RageFaction is the only team of note here, coming out of this year’s World Cyber Games Singapore Championship with a second place finish. However, their recent inactivity has led to a weakening in their play, managing only sixth in the current Games Xtreme League 2007 Season 2 CS 1.6 ladder. Could this represent an opening for the other teams to shine and snatch the playoff seeds from RageFaction?
Group 2
Team[LZ] has been a constant achiever in the past year. They recently finished fifth in the 2007 Games Xtreme League Season 2, and are looking good to come out on top of the other Group 2 teams at the end of the group stage.
Group 3
FeelThePain and Hybrid are the two teams to watch for in this group. FTP have a feel accolades to their name, including the GXL 2007 Season 1 champions, but Hybrid has more working in their favour this time round. The Maalysian team recently rejuvenated their team lineup and even included superstar Azmir "jackal" Hamzah of FMJ fame for KODE5. With this tournament being the last for captain Graham "StaiN" Chin before he flies off to the UK for further studies and the spectular lineup, Hybrid is bound to put in everything they’ve got.
Group 4
Group 4 is definitely the group everyone will be watching out for. On one side, we have ExsequoR, the 2006 WCG Singapore champions who were prevented from participating in this year’s edition due to citizenship rules. On the other side, we have South Korean CS team Lunatic-Hai.Razer. ExsequoR will definitely be looking to show that they are still one of the best CS teams in Singapore and will have to send Lunatic-Hai packing in the process.
Group 6
ExsequoR’s AG team, playing under the name Team agR, looks set to sweep this group.
Group 7
Group 7 is going to be a clash of nations, with Team Rv from Brunei, XCN from Indonesia, and 1st.VN from Vietnam in the fray. Each of them represent the best in Counter-Strike from their home countries and all of them have great exposure to international tournaments. We should be able to expect an extraordinary showcase of gameplay and teamwork from these three teams.
