For the first time ever, Soulcalibur IV enthusiasts will be able to compete against the best players in Singapore in the Soul Singapore Invitational ’08, slated to be held in mid-December.
The tournament will be held at SAFRA Toa Payoh on Saturday, 20 December 2008 from 6 to 10pm and will be played on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles. Aside from the actual tournament itself, there will be free-play sessions for those who want to try out Soulcalibur IV.
Soul Singapore, a five-year-old group made out of Singaporean fans of the Soulcalibur series, is organizing the tournament in order to promote the game title and lay the ground for more live tournaments.
“Playing with someone in the same space as yourself is very different both in and out of the game as compared to online”, said Soul Singapore spokesman Samuel “Aheda” Ong. “Playing games competitively offline is quite the enriching experience.”
Participation in the tournament costs S$5, while entry to the venue is free. More details on the tournament are available on the Soul Singapore blog.
