Peh “Blitzrooney” Hang Wei edged out Joseph “Zarates” Yeo to be crowned champion of the first FIFA Online 2 Lan Battle tournament last weekend.
Blitzrooney won the best-of-three finals 2-1. Blitzrooney edged the first match against Zarates 3-2 in extra-time. Zarates then fought back to win the second match and level the scores at 1-1 with a nail-biting win on penalties after the match had ended 2-2 after extra time. There was no holding back Blitzrooney, however, who then whitewashed Zarates 5-1 in the final deciding match.
Blitzrooney won himself S$200 on the spot, while Zarates consoled himself with S$100. Second runner-up Clarence “key” Yiaw walked away with S$50.
“I have been training hard and practicing regularly, which shows because I am also topping the leaderboard at the moment. This victory has shown that my hard work has not been for nothing,” Blitzrooney said.
Bliztrooney had previously placed second in FIFA Online 2’s first Tournament Challenge.
This tournament is part of a planned series of tournaments, with a total of over S$5,000 at stake over the duration of the entire series.
