A news item posted on the World Cyber Games Singapore website on Monday night, now removed, stated that this year’s WCG Singapore National Finals would be held from 3 to 5 July and would only have 6 games, with competitive gaming staple Counter-Strike 1.6 being dropped.
GameSync understands that the fact that The Games Xpo 2009 also runs from 3 to 5 July might not be mere coincidence. The WCG Singapore National Finals could be held as part of TGX09 this year, instead of a standalone event as in previous years.
The games listed on Monday night were:
PC Games
DotA Allstars
FIFA 09
WarCraft III: The Frozen ThroneXbox 360 Games
Guitar Hero World Tour (Solo)
VirtuaFighter 5Mobile Games
Asphalt 4
The post in question now simply states that the WCG National Finals will be “coming soon” and that there will be “over 8 games”. GameSync will contact Rapture Gaming, organizer of WCG in Singapore, for more details in the coming days.
