Asiasoft’s games showcase returns for its second year in May with new game launches, tournaments and competitions with over S$50,000 to be won and an auction of game merchandise for charity.
Held alongside Singapore Press Holdings’ License2Play event, Gamefest 2009 will see the launch of a major expansion to MapleStory, dubbed MapleStory Episode 2 Reborn, and Yulgang, a martial arts MMORPG based on a popular comic book from Korea.
A S$9,500 cash prize Sudden Attack tournament will also be held, with the champion to get S$5,000, with S$3,000 and S$1,500 for second and third placed teams respectively. There will also be an interschool Audition competition and a MapleStory-themed competition, “Power of Get Together”, where contestants will get together with family members to overcome challenges and win prizes. Other competitions slated for Gamefest 2009 include:
- AuditionSEA “FAM of the Year” Battle
- CABAL Time Attack Forbidden Island Dungeon Run
- GetAmped Gathering of Fighters
Asiasoft will also be auctioning off in-game items, limited edition pre-paid cards and game merchandise for the benefit of charity.
“Building closer bonds with the community is our priority,” Asiasoft chairman Mr Sherman Tan said. “We hope the gaming communities will enjoy to the fullest all the activies in the License2Play event.”
Asiasoft Gamefest 2009 will be held from 22 to 24 May at Suntec City Convention Hall 603.
Correction: Asiasoft has clarified that the Sudden Attack tournament has a total prize purse of S$9,500 in cash and has provided the prize breakdown for the winners. We previously reported that the tournament would have S$5,000 in cash and prizes.
