Seven games, including Counter-Strike 1.6, Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead, are slated for a World Cyber Games Singapore 2009 event in June according to an undated news item posted on the Game Haven cyber cafe website.
The seven games are part of the upcoming WCG SAFRA Champions League competition, to be held 5 to 7 June at an unknown venue – most likely to be Game Haven since the post appeared there.
The games in question are:
PC games
- Blackshot
- Counter-Strike 1.6
- DotA All Stars
- Left 4 Dead
- Team Fortress 2
Xbox 360 games
- Virtua Fighter 5
- Guitar Hero: World Tour
Strangely, although the news item asks interested parties to register at sg.wcg.com, the website is still under construction.
GameSync had earlier learned from an e-club Malaysia source that Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead would be included in this year’s WCG as the distibutor of Valve games in Singapore and Malaysia had formed a partnership with Rapture Gaming. (View our live update on the topic at Facebook or Twitter)
We also received a report that the Managing Director of Rapture Gaming, Mr Herman Ng, had confirmed that Counter-Strike 1.6 would be included in the WCG Singapore finals. Rapture Gaming is the organizer of WCG in Singapore.
No word yet on exactly which games will make it into the National Finals, but assuming that the post is not a “mistake”, there is a good chance that all the games featured in the SAFRA Champions League will be present.
Rapture Gaming had previously declined to comment on which games would be included in this year’s WCG National Finals when GameSync contacted them Tuesday.
