Cyber Gaming Festival kicks off next week

The S$14,000 prize pool Cyber Gaming Festival opens at the end of next week on Saturday, 27 June with competitions targeted at both the hardcore and casual gaming crowd.

Organized by the NUS Students’ Computing Club, the highlight of the two-day event will be the main Blackshot, DotA Allstars, Guitar Hero World Tour and Left 4 Dead tournaments.

For the public, they will be able to compete in various Wii mini-games that will be announced on-the-spot in a special Virtual Olympics, with prizes to be won.

In addition to the competitions, there will be a cyber wellness talk given by Gordon “Myrm” Hoi, a previous WCG Singapore StarCraft champion. Mr Hoi will share tips on how to strike a balance between gaming and school.

NUS Professor Dr Ashraf Golam will also be presenting opportunities at the NUS School of Computing for those who are interested in picking up games development as a future career.
