Singapore’s Team Happy — consisting of Kun-Xian Ho (using Akuma), Leslie Cheong (using Sagat), and Tommy Teo (using Chun) — managed to progress into the second round of Sunday’s Street Fighter IV competition at Tougeki ’10 before being knocked out.

According to round1.sg’s SBO2010 Community Blog, Team Happy were defeated in the second round by the Japanese team of Shiro (using Abel), Ojisan Boy (using Sagat), and Mizoteru (using Blanka).

Mizoteru had pulled off a one-man victory, beating the entire line-up of Team Happy all by himself — first Tommy, then Leslie, and finally Kun-Xian.

Earlier in the first round of the competition, Tommy had achieved a one-man victory of his own, using his Chun-Li to wipe out the entire Japanese team of DED (using Ryu), Hoimin LVL3 (using Bison) and Arison (using Sagat).

Tommy did not have much time to prepare for Tougeki’10 because of his last-minute visa application, making his feat in the first round even more remarkable.

Writing on the SBO2010 Community Blog about his experience in Japan, Leslie said that Japanese SF4 players were difficult to beat due to their high-level of execution and strong knowledge of character match-ups.

“In order for Singapore to catch up, we need to share more knowledge about our own characters, or what our opponents’ characters are capable of,” said Leslie on the blog.

“At the same time, we also need to be open minded when listening to advice from another player,” he said.

Team 2,000 Yen of Japan — consisting of Kindevu (using Rufus), Momochi (using Akuma), and RF (using Sagat) — were the champions of the SF4 tournament.

They defeated the Japanese team of Team Takeda Family — consisting of Daigo Umehara (using Ryu), TKD (using Fuerte), and Bonchan (using Sagat) — in the finals.
