SG Finest will be hosting a Super Street Fighter IV tournament at Gamescore, Funan, on Saturday at 2pm. The competition will take place just outside the shop premises of Gamescore.

The competition format is double-elimination, with no limit on the maximum number of participants. The event might be extended to Sunday, however, if the player turnout reaches 50 or more.

Registration will take place on-site on the day of the competition, at 1.30pm-2.00pm, with an entry fee of $10. The first 50 participants to join the SG Finest Facebook page will be able to sign-up for free.

The prizes, still tentative and subject to changes, are as follows:

  • 1st prize – $500
  • 2nd prize – $100
  • 3rd prize – $50
  • 4th – 8th place – $10

Speaking to NGNT, the head organiser of SG Finest said the venue at Funan was selected because he knew the Gamescore shop operators personally.

“We’ve received permission from Funan management to host the game competition outside of the shop,” he said. “We need to do crowd management on that day to ensure that we do not disrupt the business of Gamescore and the surrounding shops.”

This is the first gaming competition that SG Finest are organising, and they are planning to hold more tournaments in the future if Saturday’s event goes smoothly.

“We plan to have more monthly tournaments on various games,” the head organiser said. “Some of the games we are looking at are DOTA and Tekken 6.”

Matches at the competition will be recorded, and the videos will be uploaded online at a later date for players to view their performance.
