An official from Rapture Gaming has confirmed that the World Cyber Games 2008 Asian Championship will be held once again in Singapore. This will mark the third year that the event, attended by representatives from across Asia Pacific, will be held here.
As GameSync reported previously, the Asian Championship will be held alongside the WCG Singapore National Finals from 7 to 10 August 2008 at the Suntec City Conventional Centre.
Further details available on the Uniquely Singapore website states that this year’s Asian Championship will feature a US$15,000 (S$20,800) prize pool. Also, the number of countries involved will increase from 12 to 14. No mention was made of which were the two additional countries that will make their way to Singapore for the event.
The official who spoke to GameSync also revealed that the Asian Championship was indeed planned to be held in Malaysia, but a decision was made by the overall organizers, ICM International, to host the regional event in Singapore instead.
