First look at CS:GO will be on Xbox 360 and PS3

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

The first look that gamers will have at the first new Counter-Strike game in 7 years, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, will be the Xbox 360 version at PAX Prime this weekend, followed by the PlayStation 3 version at Eurogamer Expo next month, according to an email Valve sent out to the media.

I can’t help but wonder if Valve is sending a message that it is serious about CS:GO on consoles by making the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions the first that will be playable by the public. Thankfully, judging by Valve’s track record from Team Fortress 2 — which is also available on the Xbox 360 and the PS3 — we shouldn’t have to worry about getting a watered-down PC version of CS:GO.

The esports potential for CS:GO on consoles is interesting though. Could the highly competitive 5-on-5 game finally unseat the Halo and Call of Duty series as the leading competitive titles for consoles? I certainly hope that is the case, with an eye on getting to watch competitive CS on MLG one day.

tf2 is watered down version and easy…

    It is?

I was referring to the fact that the PC version isn’t watered-down to console standards though.
