The Championship Gaming Series announced yesterday the 2007 World Championship to take place December in Los Angeles, USA, with a prize purse worth US$1 million (S$1.5 million), with US$500,000 (S$750,000) to go to the champion team.
Twelves teams from around the world, including eight teams from Europe, Latin America, UK and USA, will compete for a share of the prize money in the World Championship, slated to be held from 6 to 14 December.
China, Dubai (UAE), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Seoul (South Korea), Singapore and Sydney (Australia) will also be competing at the CGS Pan-Asian Finals from 15 to 18 October for the chance to participate in the World Championship. The top 4 teams from the Pan-Asian Finals will be picked to enter the global finals.
There will also be a competition to determine the top individual players to determine World Champions in each CGS official game, which includes Counter-Strike: Source, FIFA 2007 on the PC and Dead or Alive 4 and Project Gotham Racing 3.
“With CGS teams now established in five continents, we have built an unprecedented global sports league with gaming talent from every corner of the world,” said CGS Commissioner Andy Reif.
“No one knows which team will take home the top prize of $500,000 at our World Championship, but they will truly deserve to be called pro gaming’s first-ever World Champion.”
