[b]There was some controversy with the tournament format, this being the result of the first round being in a double elimination format, while the rest of the rounds were played in a single elimination format.[/b] In a typical double elimination tournament format, the winning teams will stay in the upper bracket while the losing teams will be moved to the lower bracket instead of being knocked out of the competition at every round of the tournament. [b]The opening day of 3xE saw 30 teams in two divisions, Counter-Strike 1.6 and DotA Allstars, battling it out in the preliminary rounds.[/b] It looks like opening up the 3xE competition to all comers instead of just secondary school students was a good move. Many well established Counter-Strike teams such as ExsequoR, RageFaction and Team TitaNs made themselves felt at the 3xE competition.
