JUNIOR COLLEGE STUDENTS JOSTLE FOR COVETED POSITIONS IN WORLD CYBER GAMES 2005 SINGAPORE NATIONAL FINAL

SINGAPORE – 31 AUGUST 2005 – In the second leg final of the Samsung Campus Gaming Festival yesterday, 59 students from seven junior colleges pitted their skills against one other for coveted places in the World Cyber Games 2005 (WCG2005) Singapore National Final.

Anderson Junior College was the big winner, emerging champions in Counter-Strike Source and DOTA All-stars, two of the four popular cyber games played. The other two games were: Need for Speed Underground 2 and WarcraftIII. All four games will be played at the National Final.

The champion of each category won for themselves Samsung MP3 Player and mobile phones, as well as coveted seeded positions in the WCG2005 Singapore National Final to be held from September 9-11. In the National Final, competitors will battle for a dream ticket to represent Singapore in the WCG2005 Grand Finals, also to be held in Singapore from November 16-20.

Tomorrow marks the final leg of the Festival’s finals, and will see gamers from polytechnics and universities vying for the few remaining places in the National Final. The opening leg yesterday had seen 89 secondary school students from seven secondary schools competing to realize their ambition of playing in the National Final.
