CAPL 2006/07 Winter Season Premier Category Results

[b]Teams Wrath and FooSa!! will face each other in the finals for DotA Allstars while Rsyndrome took the first placing for Counter-Strike 1.6 and True takes the Warcraft III champion’s title for CAPL 2006/07 Winter Season.[/b]

It was a day riddled with walkovers in the CAPL 2006/07 Winter Season Premier Category playoffs. Out of a field of 14 teams for the Counter-Strike 1.6 division, only four teams turned up for their matches, while in DotA, as many as half the teams failed to show up, resulting in almost every team receiving at least one walkover match, with Asterisk* particularly notable for finishing top four and promoted to the elite division without having to play a single game.

The Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne competitors also played out their finals matches today so they would not have to play during the grand finals of the Winter Season. The results are True taking the top spot, with Vello in second spot, TitaNs Dreams in third spot and ChoBo placing fourth.

Rumour has it that due to the large amounts of walkovers seen throughout all seasons of CAPL 2006/07, Counter-Strike 1.6 may be dropped from the competition’s game lineup. If this turns out to be true, it will be a major blow for the Counter-Strike competitive scene in Singapore which has been increasingly sidelined by more popular competitive games such as DotA Allstars of late.

[color=red]IMPORTANT UPDATE:[/color] It was reported previously that WwF.Minor won Team [R] to proceed to the finals. It should have been Team [R] defeating WwF.Minor to proceed to the finals instead. Also, it has been pointed out to me that Amor Victoria is Rsyndrome, and they have already played their finals game with Team [R], defeating Team [R] by 16 – 12 to clinch the first placing for the CAPL 2006/07 Winter Season.
