Over S$2,000 was raised for charity through the Lan Gaming Extravangaza held last weekend at the Suntec City Mall. The bulk of the money was raised through registration fees from the inter-tertiary DotA Allstars competition and an overnight lan gaming session.

Ngee Ann Polytechnic team captain Chan Kah Wai, 21, said that although the prizes were not attractive, it was a great opportunity for friends to get together to play and give to charity during the polytechnic term break.

Underlining the friendly nature of the tournament, NP and Singapore Polytechnic decided not to contest each other and instead decided to be joint-winners.

All proceeds will go to CARE Singapore, a charity that helps youth overcome social ills. Project Director Thang Wei Wang, 23, said, “We are youths too and we understand that there are those out there that need our help. We are willing to donate this money to help CARE in their program.”

The Lan Gaming Extravaganza was organized by student societies from the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and the Singapore Management University.
