Games Workshop, the creators of the Warhammer 40k tabletop game, have announced a new feature-length movie based on their Warhammer 40k universe. Called Ultramarines: A Warhammer 40,000 Movie, the 70-minute film is due to be released on DVD.
As the title suggests, the movie revolves around the Ultramarines, an elite group of Imperial Space Marines serving the God Emperor of Man. Anyone who has played the Warhammer: Dawn of War video games should be familiar with the Ultramarines — they are featured prominently in the Dawn of War: Winter Assault campaign.
The screenplay is written by Dan Abnett, the renowned author of many Games Workshop novels. Abnett promises that the movie with be as faithful to the Warhammer 40k lore as possible.
Codex Pictures are the distributors of the Ultramarines movie. They have announced Martyn Pick as the director.
