Microsoft will be officially launching the Kinect in Singapore later today at Plaza Singapura as part of the X10: Kinect for Xbox 360 event, where there will be a host of family-oriented, carnival-styled activities for all to enjoy.
The Kinect is an add-on peripheral for the Xbox 360 which lets you use your body to play your favorite games and entertainment, literally turning you into the controller. Fourteen Kinect game titles will be available during the launch, including dance, fitness, sports, racing and family-oriented games.
“Kinect will bring gaming and entertainment to life, no controller required,” Microsoft’s regional retail sales and marketing director Ben Tan said. “People of all ages will now have the opportunity to literally jump up and race cars, float in space or even compete in a game of beach volleyball right in their living room.”
The stand-alone Kinect peripheral is priced at S$229 and includes the Kinect Adventures motion-based sports video game. There is also an Xbox 360 with Kinect package, priced at S$469, which includes the new Xbox 360 4GB console, the Kinect sensor and Kinect Adventures.
If you happen to be a DBS or POSB credit or debit cardholder, you’ll be able to purchase the Kinect today, one day before it officially hits the shelves of retailers.
Besides the various game demonstration kiosks available for the public to try out the new Xbox 360 peripheral, jugglers and balloon sculptors will perform through the event. Kids will also get to enjoy a free flow of popcorn and candy floss. There will also be celebrity appearances by Edmund Chen, Allan Wu and Jaymee Ong.
The X10: Kinect for Xbox 360 event will run from Wednesday, 17 November till Sunday, 21 November from 10am to 10pm daily.
