Steam’s Borderlands 2 pre-order for owners of the first game is currently the cheapest: but only for this weekend

Borderlands 2

The digital version of Borderlands 2 has just been made available for pre-order on Steam, along with a discount sale and free playable-weekend of Borderlands 1. Owners of the first game on Steam will be able to pre-purchase Borderlands 2 at an additional 10% discount — but only for this weekend.

I’ve already done the math: Purchasing the Steam Borderlands 2 four-pack, plus the 10% discount, equates to S$50.60 per player.

This is currently the cheapest available offer for pre-ordering Borderlands 2 in Singapore, a far better deal than the 4-pack pre-order for the retail version of the game.

Gamers who pre-order Borderlands 2 will get free access to a fifth, bonus DLC character class, the Mechromancer.

According to Joystiq, the Mechromancer DLC will be released “roughly 60 to 90 days after [Borderlands 2’s] launch.” No pricing details for the DLC have been announced yet for those who do not pre-order.

The only reason why you might not want to get the digital version of Borderlands 2 over the retail version is because of the game’s download size: the Steam store page lists Borderlands 2‘s as requiring 20GB of hard drive space. If you don’t have access to a good internet connection, you may want to take this caveat into consideration.

So hurry up and find three other friends to purchase the Steam pre-order, you only have until the end of the week.

The author’s favourite class from Borderlands 1 was the Soldier.
